What a proper LVP stair involves
Matching treads, not butted plank
We use proper stair treads with a real nosing — the rounded front edge that makes a step safe and keeps the flooring from peeling at the lip. Flat plank run off the edge of a step is the hallmark of a rushed job.
One-piece treads where they fit
For the cleanest, most durable front edge, a single molded tread — step surface and bullnose in one piece, color-matched to your floor. No seam at the most-walked-on part of the stair.
Risers and stringers finished too
A finished stair is the tread, the riser (the vertical face), and clean edges against the wall and skirt. We finish the whole assembly so it reads as one continuous run from your floor.

+ Can you put luxury vinyl plank on stairs?
Yes, and it's one of the most-requested finishes when we run an LVP floor into a stairway. The key is using proper stair components — a tread with an integrated or added nosing (the rounded front edge) rather than flat plank butted to the step, which is both a trip hazard and a place the flooring can peel. Done right, the stairs match the floor and the transition is seamless.
+ What's the difference between a one-piece tread and a plank-wrapped stair?
A one-piece stair tread is a single molded piece that includes the step surface and the bullnose front edge in one, matched to your floor color. Plank-wrapping uses the flooring itself across the step with a separate nosing profile at the front. One-piece treads give the cleanest, most durable front edge; the right choice depends on your stairs and budget, which we assess at the free measure.

No more than any hard-surface stair, and the textured, embossed surface of quality LVP provides grip. Safety comes mostly from proper nosing — a defined, rounded front edge you can feel underfoot — which is exactly what a proper stair tread provides and what butted flat plank does not.
+ Do the stairs have to match the floor?
