Kitchen flooring in Maryland that handles everything a kitchen throws at it
A kitchen needs a floor that's waterproof, scratch-resistant, easy to clean, and looks good running continuously into the living and dining areas. Waterproof rigid-core LVP is the modern answer — and it's what we install across the DC Metro area.
What kitchens actually demand from a floor
Kitchens have the highest floor-abuse rate of any room in the house. Daily spills, steam from cooking, pet traffic, dropped pots, and constant foot traffic near the sink and stove. A floor that works in the bedroom won't necessarily hold up here.
In open floor plans — common across the DMV — the kitchen floor needs to run continuously into the dining and living areas. That means the same floor has to work for kitchen demands and living-area aesthetics simultaneously.
Waterproof rigid-core LVP handles both. It's fully waterproof at the sink and dishwasher, scratch-resistant enough for daily traffic, and comes in 16 colorways that pair with modern cabinetry and open-plan living spaces.
Why LVP for kitchens
- 100% waterproof — sink splashes, dishwasher leaks, spilled drinks
- 20-mil wear layer resists dropped utensils and daily scratching
- Comfortable underfoot — warmer than tile
- Easy to mop clean — no grout lines to scrub
- Runs seamlessly into open-plan dining and living areas
- 16 colorways to match any cabinetry and countertop
- Old flooring removal included — no extra haul-away fee
Kitchen flooring options, compared honestly
Every kitchen flooring material has trade-offs. Here's how they stack up for a working kitchen.
Hardwood
Not recommended for kitchensSpills and humidity warp and stain solid hardwood over time. Engineered hardwood is more tolerant but still not fully waterproof. Refinishing hardwood is expensive and disruptive.
Tile
Waterproof, but hard and coldTile holds up to moisture but is unforgiving underfoot, cold in winter, and the grout lines trap food and require regular cleaning. Heavy objects crack it.
Laminate
Risky near the sinkLaminate has a wood-fiber core that swells when moisture gets in — and it always does near a sink or dishwasher. Warped laminate is a common kitchen failure.
